Top 5 Developer Skills in High Demand

As one of the most in-demand Developers jobs in the tech industry, developers must keep their skills up to date. Here's where to begin.

Developers are among the most in-demand job positions, topping Indeed's list of the most On Demand Developers jobs in 2019. As the demand for digital transformation projects in the enterprise grows, so does the demand for individuals capable of bringing these digital applications to fruition.

Because of the success they bring to businesses, digital transformation projects have gained traction. According to Masergy's 2019 Digital Transformation Market Trends Report, four out of five IT professionals believe digital transformation is critical for modern-day business survival.

On the Spot Developers are in charge of creating and deploying the software and applications required for these projects. Professionals, on the other hand, must keep their skills up to date if they are to be successful developers. Employees must adapt to a digital workforce or risk being replaced by better talent.

To assist developers in honing the necessary skills, Sara Faatz, senior product marketing manager at Progress, identified the five most in-demand developer skills as follows:

1..Net And Javascript For Web Development

According to Faatz, both JavaScript and.NET have long been developer favourites and will continue to be so.

"In the .NET space, all flavours of ASP.NET remain in high demand and we are seeing a rise in popularity of ASP.NET Core and Blazor. Blazor is still a very new technology – Microsoft just removed the 'experimental' tag from it this spring – but it is generating a lot of interest because it essentially allows.NET to run in the browser," Faatz explained.

In addition to Javascript developers, Angular developers and React developers are on the rise. "Angular has reached a level of maturity that often signals safety in a platform. While React is a newer framework, the learning curve for Angular (and even.NET) developers is short, thanks in part to the lightweight library's focus on the view layer," Faatz added. "This, along with features such as reusable components and the virtual DOM, makes React appealing to enterprises."

2. Mobile Application Development

"We live in a mobile world, and our end users are becoming more sophisticated," said Faatz. "Their expectations for mobile experiences are rising. A mobile developer with a strong understanding of cross-platform development and user experience will be in high demand."

3. Machine Learning And Artificial Intelligence (Ai)

"With the growing popularity of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, as well as the promise of automating everyday tasks, people with these skills and expertise are in high demand," Faatz said. "The brains of smarter applications are AI and machine learning. These technologies enable the application to learn from patterns of behaviour and respond or produce an action more intelligently. On Demand Developers who understand how to effectively build, implement, and use AI and ML - and recognise that these are powerful tools - are in high demand."

4. Development Across The Entire Stack

Full-stack developers can configure the project's front and back end development needs. "He or she can create the user interface, business logic, and database layer. "With so many developers specialising these days, a full-stack developer is like your jack of all trades," Faatz said. He or she adds significant value to the development team/program because they have a comprehensive understanding of the application and can contribute wherever needed."

5. Enhancement Of The User Experience

"You could write the most beautiful code - the kind your mother would proudly display on her refrigerator - but if the end user experience is flawed in some way, perfect code means nothing," said Faatz.

"Hire a Professional Website Developer with knowledge and experience in user experience who can contribute to the visual layout of the website or application," she adds. "He or she will have a strong understanding of the business needs, will have some design experience or will work with designers, and will be able to translate user research into interfaces that provide a frictionless, responsive, visually appealing experience for the end user."
